We Can Change the World

I think the thing that bothers me the most about our culture is the major emphasis on consumerism. It seems like it has grown to where it overwhelms our very existence.

I would like our culture to be more about people exploring their lives and recapturing the quality that everyone craves. Instead, it has become the norm for us to look outside of ourselves for everything and life lacks value fulfillment.

Is this because man has little regard for his own instincts and abilities? Are we turning into that cheap pair of unlined pants made in China?

I heard a guy, in a small town that was hit by the hurricane, saying that you have to be nice to your neighbor because they might be the one who saves your life when the next storm hits. He tells how their community has been helping their people from within.

This statement hit me. It's not that we are not nice to our neighbor; it is that we barely know him. But worse than that, it is that we barely know ourselves.

We are good people and very generous when something happens....but, we need that kind of thoughtfulness on a daily basis, not just in an emergency.

The thing is.... we need to start with OURSELVES.

We need to look within for answers, giving our instincts and intuition greater respect instead of treating ourselves like cars...like we have no control over our "innards" and always have to have a mechanic who knows our body more than we do.

But we are not cars and no one knows you like you do. You are the mechanic. You are the beating heart. Only you know what you think and feel.

Those thoughts and feelings affect your body. How is the mechanic going to deal with that?

If we explore ourselves and understand how to make ourselves healthy and happy, maybe we will understand how to do it as a community and in our businesses.

Then, one day, we will wake up to a more content new world.
